Domestic Violence Education The prevalence of physical and sexual abuse among women in substance abuse treatment programs is estimated to range from 30 percent to more than 90 percent, depending on the definition of abuse and the specific target population. In addition, alcohol and drug problems have been shown to increase women’s vulnerability to violence through exposure to unsafe situations. Strategies for Change is addressing domestic violence by helping women take control of their lives, heal the trauma and create healthy relationships. Our domestic violence educational series and support groups are ideal for those working through grief, healing from trauma, and looking for support in developing assertiveness skills. Strategies for Change 12-week Domestic Violence Educational series meets CPS requirements for domestic violence education and participants earn a certificate upon completion. The educational classes are limited to 20 participants & require registration. Scheduled Sessions are : North Site: Monday 6:00-7:30 p.m. & Thursday, 4:00-5:30 p.m. South Site: Thursdays 6:00-7:30 p.m. Free childcare is provided. The cost is $35 per session. Current clients and those referred through CPS can qualify for a fee reduction or waiver (not to exceed $25 per session). CPS referred clients may submit a CS800 form to pay for services.
