Skills Development for the Cognitive Impaired

Those with cognitive impairments present with a variety of issues that make traditional counseling ineffective: Typical challenges might include: difficulty reading /writing, poor socialization skills, poor memory recall/reasoning skills and/or difficulty making cause and effect connections.

Strategies for Change leads Northern California in providing substance abuse treatment to those with cognitive impairments. We provide gentle, effective and empathic counsel to substance abusers with compromised capacity to understand information presented and the ability to make reasoned decisions about participation. Services include Outpatient substance abuse treatment, relapse prevention, aftercare, drug testing, co-occurring disorder services and mental health counseling, anger management and referrals for ancillary services as needed.

Strategies for Change Skills Development Program provides structured treatment/case management with on-site mental health services for Sacramento and surrounding Counties and is congruent with Proposition 36 and Drug Court Probation Requirements.
