Community Volunteer Support 

Strategies for Change welcomes volunteer support for short and long-range projects. Our aim is to create a satisfying experience for everyone involved and we look forward to finding the ideal match for adult and youth volunteers looking to make a positive difference in our community.  Please consider; our childcare department would benefit from your insight, energy, and interest by providing activities for infants, toddlers, and youngsters up to 10-years old. Planning fun and engaging activities, and assembling the needed items, would be of great help to our 2 full time and 1 part-time childcare workers.  Strategies for Change welcomes individual and professional support in the areas of: nutrition, financial literacy, interview prep, dental hygiene, legal awareness, and representation from other professions. 

We own the building at 4343 Williamsbourgh Drive, 95823. We do not have an on-site facility manager and a volunteer handyperson would be very helpful – from changing light bulbs, ensuring proper irrigation, touch –up paint… the little things add up! Facility care is a great opportunity for individual, large and small groups. We could use group/team help applying wood chips as mulch, washing windows, gardening… etc.  

​For those with web design, tech or marketing skills, Strategies for Change welcomes support to update our web, IT and marketing. We have had 4 retirees who spent up 15 hours a week on administrative support such as reception, organizational support and general administrative support, such as scanning documents. We hired 2 of the volunteered into 2 part-time positions.  We could use more.

Community Business Support 

Community support comes in many forms. During 2009, the following businesses supported Strategies for Change mission by generously donating materials and services.  Upon learning of our children’s garden vandalism, Home Depot provided a complete makeover – including employee support, safety upgrades, raised flower beds, and murals.  Kelly-Moore Paint donated 150 gallons of E-Coat paint—enough for us to paint 4343 Williamsbourgh Drive.  Sierra Nursery donated 6 planting barrels to our children’s garden.  Park Mechanical facilitated the donation of a much needed air conditioning/heating unit.  McDonald Heating and Air installed a bib for the children’s garden.  Michelotti Engineering participated in our February renovation effort by painting our parking lot lines.

​Wal-Mart continues to donate diapers and hygiene products for our childcare and clients. Sacramento Kings Community Relations Team continues to provide our agency with Kings Basketball Tickets at Sleep Train Arena Event Center so that our clients and families in our care can attend sports and special events.  Michelotti Engineering continues to help our Williamsbourgh Drive location in the South with updates and repairs to the building.  

We recently had Nate, a local veteran who volunteered his time to paint several of our group rooms.  Another local veteran volunteered to repair our breezeway planter boxes by removing the wood and dirt and replanting the plants.

​Volunteering brings together a diverse range of people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Both the recipients of your volunteer efforts and your co-workers can be a rich source of inspiration and an excellent way to develop your interpersonal skills.  Volunteering also offers an incredible networking opportunity. Not only will you develop lasting personal and professional relationships but it is also a great way to learn about people from all walks of life, different environments, and new industries. Intern Opportunity 

Strategies for Change has an excellent reputation as a teaching agency and has many opportunities for all educational levels of interns. We currently provide training, supervision, practicum, internship, and volunteer hours in Clinical and Forensic Psychology, Drug and Alcohol Studies, Marriage and Family Therapy, Criminal Justice, and Social Work.  We have agreements with the following schools; American River College, Consumes River College, Alliant University, Argosy University, Phoenix University, University of Southern California, University of Phoenix and University of San Francisco.
