Prior to Admission 

A perspective client should call the administrative desk at the location that is most accessible to them; North site 916-473-5764 or South site 916-395-3552 to inquire about program, funding source and eligibility.  All programs have a set of pre screening intake questions that are asked to help determine what the most appropriate program would be for the perspective client.  Once eligibility is determined than an intake date is scheduled.  If Drug Medi-Cal eligible the client must bring a copy of their card to intake.


At Intake

The client is asked to arrive 30 minutes before the intake session.  The client arrives to intake and begins filling out an assessment after checking in at the front desk.  Then the client will meet with a counselor for 90 minutes/1 hour to complete Intake/ Orientation in which the group rules, any program fees and expectations are reviewed.  A client becomes aware of their obligations regarding attendance, behavior and ways that a client may be discharged.  The client and counselor will review and sign all required and confidential paperwork.  The client and counselor will review the client’s treatment plan, program agreement and releases are signed by the client. The client is assigned a group schedule and individuals are scheduled with the primary counselor.

Private Insurance

Strategies for Change does not accept Private insurance. However, your private insurance may work with you on a reimbursement plan. Call your insurance company today to see if you qualify for a reimbursement plan. A reimbursement plan is when you pay the treatment fees and your insurance company reimburses you.


No Private Insurance or Funding

If you don’t have the means to pay for substance abuse treatment, Sacramento County Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Services Division can help. Sacramento County provides assessment and support for treatment based on specific needs. Assessments are given on a walk-in basis between the hours of 8-12 and 1-4 p.m. They are located at 3321 Power Inn Road, Suite 120, Sacramento, CA 95826.

Medi-Cal  and CalWORKs Funding

Strategies for Change accepts payment from Medi-Cal and CalWORKs for substance abuse treatment services.  Call the front desk first to verify eligibility at our North location 473-5764 dial ‘0’ or our South location 395-3552 dial ‘0’.  Once eligibility is verified a intake is scheduled.  Bring a copy of your Medi-Cal card to your first visit.
